COMPETITION READY IN LESS TIME
Comparing the the time to get the RTR, ARTR, and the KIT running
Approximate Time in Hours

The Axial AX10 Scorpion 1/10, 4WD Electric, R/C Rock Crawler ARTR (Almost Ready-to-Run). Just add your choice of electronics, and you'll be able to hit the rocks in shorter time than having to build your entire crawler.

The ARTR was designed from the ground up, and every detail was thought through to provide a competition level base kit to work with. Previously the only way to build a competition capable rock crawler was to buy bits and pieces of several different kits here'n'there. This long and sometimes frustrating process could take as long as several months just to get the right parts together before you could even start the build. Now you can get a factory built rolling chassis, and within approximately an hours build-time you'll be able to hit the rocks with your competition ready AX10 Scorpion rock crawler.

AXLES

The axles have been designed with many features that are not available from other products on the market.  Everything from the axle strength, pinion angle, caster, and ground clearance were taken into consideration when designing these axles. The result is a far superior axle that will stand-up to some severe punishment. To ensure added longevity from the start a hi-tolerance sintered diff locker is included along with hardened drive shafts.

WHEEL AND TIRES

No crawler would be complete without the essentials, and the AX10 Scorpion is outfitted with the popular 2.2 8 hole beadlocks sporting orange rock rings, and the Pro-Line Hammer™ tires.

The 2.2 8 hole beadlocks not only looks great but were engineered to meet the needs of competitive rock crawling.  Designed to fit most of the competitive tires available on the market, they are true beadlocks and require no gluing.  Made from strong composite materials to keep the weight low while still adding strength where needed.

The Pro-Line Hammer™ tires were inspired by The Sledgehammer and Jackhammer trails located near Johnson Valley, California.  These are some of the most brutal trails known to crawlers around the country, and the need for the right equipment is crucial for getting through the trails successfully.  Knowing the needs of competitive R/C rock crawling, Pro-Line M2 Hammer™ tires were chosen because of their super soft compound and tread design.

BODY

Designed from the get-go as a competition level rock crawling body to allow clearance where needed when crawling. Tapered front and rear it allows more articulation space: trim the fenders to allow for even more clearance. The side skirt acts as a skid plate when on the rocks and offers increased ground clearance.  Designed to give you the scale looks of a real 1:1 rock buggy. The XC-1 is manufactured in durable .040” polycarbonate which will stand up to abuse from all sorts of terrain.

DESIGNED SPECIFICALLY FOR COMPETITION

SHOCKS AND LINKS

Super long nitride coated shocks offer a wider range of articulation.  An optional range of spring rates allow you to custom tune your crawler to work on a wide range of terrain.  All suspension links are made from strong lightweight aluminum and anodized in orange.  Rear high clearance links are included to help increase ground clearance and prevent hang-ups.

HIGH CLEARANCE REAR LINKS

"We found we could climb, straddle and cleanly exit an 85mm high box, and get one wheel to pass right over an obstacle 150mm high while the other three wheels remained in contact with the floor. Simply amazing and satisfying entertainment..." - Radio Race Car International, Peter Gray, Jan 2008
TRANSMISSION

The AX10 Scorpion transmission was designed to place the weight of the motor as low as possible to maintain a low CG (Center of Gravity). The ultra compact transmission doesn't compromise performance because it also allows for a wide range of gearing choices.  The overall ratio can be adjusted from 15:1 all the way up to 74:1 using different pinion/spur gear choices which allows for super high speed or to competition level crawling speed.  The transmission is locked with no differential action which allows for both wheels to get the maximum amount of traction. The out-drive shafts come in a hard anodized aluminum for added durability.

"I also believe that the AX10 might be the best thing to happen to RC crawling since J.B. Weld." - RC Car Action, Matt Higgins, Nov. 2007
CHASSIS

The AX10 Scorpion chassis is lightweight and stiff.  Twin 2.5mm aluminum side plates are tied together with aluminum posts that create a rigid structure. The molded nylon skid/transmission plate is designed not only to be strong, but it's radius edges aid in preventing hang-up's on jagged surfaces. Additional design features include channeled grooves which assist in directional stability. Scale was also taken into consideration, and the chassis was made as small and compact as possible to cut weight as much as possible.  A simple, yet highly functional battery/radio tray makes installation of your electronics quick and easy.  Wheel base is adjustable from 304mm ~ 320mm.

"I'll admit that I wasn't much of a rock crawling fan until i actually drove a crawler, and since then I've been hooked. Take the time to drive one, and you'll probably find yourself skipping Starbucks for a month to save up some scratch for your new Axial AX10 Scorpion crawler." - Stephen Bess, R/C Car Magazine, April 2008
